Most veterinarians recommend that you not bathe your dog for 7 to 10 days after neutering as water can compromise the stitches used to close the incision site. The recovery time depends on the severity of the bite and the length of time that the dog has been in a state of shock.
Dogs that have been bitten by other dogs are more likely to have a longer recovery period than dogs who have not been attacked by another dog. A dog that has had a bite from an aggressive dog may recover more quickly than one who has bitten a non-aggressive dog, but the difference is not as great as you might think.
The longer the period of recovery, the longer it will take to heal from the wound. It is also important to keep in mind that dogs that are bitten while they are still in shock may not be able to fully recover and may need to be euthanized.

Can I bathe my dog with stitches?
Don’t bathe your dog or allow the incision to get wet. Unless specifically instructed to do so by your vet, never apply any cream, ointment, disinfectant, or other substance to the incision.
Can I bathe my dog 14 days after spay?
Avoid getting the incision wet until the skin has healed completely, about 14 days. No baths is what this means. Your dog will love us for it. If your dog has a skin condition, such as eczema or psoriasis, you may want to use a topical steroid cream or ointment to treat the condition. You can also use an antihistamine (such as Benadryl) to help with the itching.
Is a dog healed 10 days after spay?

It is also a good idea to let them know that you will be bringing them back to their home. If they do not like the idea of being brought back home, they may not be able to adjust to the new environment and may be more likely to try to get away from you.
