Nestlé, owner of Purina pet foods, the company many pet parents love to hate, have one more reason to hate Nestlé: Horse meat. According to the Guardian, at least two of the company’s products contain horse meat.
Guardian reports that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating whether the products are adulterated with horsemeat, which is illegal in the United States. Guardian the investigation is ongoing, and that it’s not clear if the companies will be charged with a crime or not.
However, if they are found guilty, they could face fines of up to $500,000 and/or five years in prison.
