Trained service animals are only allowed at the Zoo if they are properly leashed and controlled. For the health and safety of the Zoo’s animals, companion, emotional support, and therapy animals are not allowed. Pets must be on a leash at all times and must not be left unattended. Zoo reserves the right to refuse entry to any person or animal for any reason.

Can dogs go to the Zoo San Diego?
Pets, comfort animals, and emotional support animals are not permitted at the Zoo or Safari Park. Zoo and the Safari Park are considered to be wildlife sanctuaries because of the large populations of rare and vulnerable species they house.

Can dogs go to Balboa Park?
Dogs must be leashed and under control of owner at all times throughout the park, including trails and canyons. The south side of the San Gabriel River and Balboa Dr. at El Prado are two areas that are designated as 24 hour dog-off-leash zones. Dogs are not allowed in these areas.
